Ann Wirtz

Hello. As always, I am so happy to begin this school year at Lakeland. Back in 1981 I began substituting in the Elk Rapids School system. 30 plus (!) years have gone by so very quickly!

Once again, I am teaching our Transitional Kindergarten students. It is an honor and a joy to be teaching these children, and a true gift that, as a district, we continue to support this learning year for children.

I was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Ohio University in Athens. After vacationing in Elk Rapids since I was 4 years old, I was lucky enough to move here in the spring of 1981. My husband, Joe, and I have 4 children and we feel so lucky they could spend their “growing up” years here in Northern Michigan.

It is an honor to be a part of Elk Rapids School District. I feel the responsibility of being one of your child’s first teachers very profoundly. My goals are to instill the love of learning, nurture the emotional side of these young children, encourage communication skills,  and create a safe, comfortable, positive Transitional Kindergarten environment.

When asked what my goal is today…it is to make sure your child can not wait to come back to Lakeland tomorrow!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, thoughts.
